Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:1-2

Every day feels like a race – a race to get up and ready, a race to get wherever we need to go, a race to get lunch on the table, a race to get as much done as possible during my son’s nap.

God calls us to run our race with endurance, but not endurance to cram as much into our days as possible.  Endurance to run our race (our lives) with strength, integrity, and in His will.  Endurance to persevere through difficult days with His strength, and not in our own.  Endurance for the long-haul, and not just for today.

We run the race for His glory, and not for our own.  We run this race with others, some of whom will run with us, and some of whom will run against us.  And yet we continue in the race.

And, as the Scripture above says, we are to imitate Christ, and do all of this with joy!

How is your race going today?  Can you say that you are running it with joy?
